Lord Krishna is surely one of the most adorable and mischievous Hindu gods that we have in our history. Known by several names like kanha ji, Thakur ji, laddu gopal, mohan muraliya, Nandlala, Gopala, Keshava and many more, Lord Krishna is the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu.
There are several facts about Lord Krishna which are still
unknown or less known to the devotees. We are going to talk about one such fact
about Radha Krishna and Rukmini.
In several temples, we have seen idols of Radha Krishna
together and the Lord is always worshipped with Radha Rani. Very less or no
temple has the idol of Lord Krishna and Rukmini together; this is question that
strikes the mind of many devotees. In spite of being in love with Radha Rani
why did Lord Krishna marry Rukmini?
It is a well-known fact that the love between Radha and Krishna is supreme and they both are worshipped together by several devotees.
Also devotees worship Shri Radha before worshipping Krishna because it is
believed that one can make Lord Krishna happy by pleasing Radha Rani. However,
Radha Krishna never got married and Krishna married Rukmini instead.
If we talk about the olden times, Shri Krishna has a kid
used to play the flute by the lake in Gokul that captivated hearts of several
Gopis around the area but Radha was Krishna’s dear Gopi and that made Radha
Krishna different from the rest. There are several pictures that show Radha
Krishna together on swings, dancing and singing with each other.
There are many reasons listed as to why Radha Krishna couldn’t get married. As per one of those reasons, it is said that Radha was already married to Abhimanyu whose name is mentioned nowhere.
It is also
believed that Radha Krishna were so much in love together that there was
absolutely no need for them to get married, there love is purest and couples
still swear by it.
Also the love between Radha and Krishna was the love that a devotee has for his god. Radha loved Lord Krishna so keenly that people had mistaken the definition of their love. The truth is that Radha and Krishna has unconditional love and they are one.
There was an incident where Radha asked
Krishna why he did not marry her to which Shri Krishna replied, “How can one
marry his own soul?”. Radha Krishna may be two names but they are one and are
worshipped as one.
Besides the facts mentioned above, it is also said that
Radha and Rukmini both were the incarnations of Goddess Lakshmi and Krishna’s
favorite. The difference was only that Radha’s love was similar to the
devotee’s love and Rukmini was Krishna’s wife.
